Brian Lawson’s two-year-old daughter, Teija, is just his little girl.
“She runs around, laughs and giggles just like any other girl,” he said. “She has tea parties with her daddy. She likes to play with her dolls.”
Teija was born with Down syndrome. But she is more similar to other children than different, her mother, Jennifer, added.
“She loves Sesame Street. She loves music. She loves Elmo. She loves potato chips,” she said.
Buddy Walk raises awareness of Down syndrome
Jason Freimanis and his family have a very personal connection with the Down Syndrome Association of Sudbury’s annual Buddy Walk.
Freimanis, an officer with the Greater Sudbury Police Service, and his wife, Tania, are parents to three boys, Josh, 9, Cael, 6, and Liam, 2. Liam was born with Down syndrome, but the couple said their son has given the family a new outlook on life
