Buddy Walk
Buddy Walk
The Buddy Walk was developed by the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) in 1995 to bring together a range of concerned individuals to reach out to friends, family and co-workers to promote awareness and inclusion for people with Down syndrome and to raise funds for education, research and advocacy programs. The Buddy Walk is a one or two kilometer walk in which anyone can participate without special training. This event can raise funds and awareness in local communities. With your help we can all spread the word about how the important contributions made by Canadians with Down syndrome and the inclusion of all people makes all of our communities more vibrant.
The CDSS is ready to assist walk organizers like you to ensure the success of your Buddy Walk. While this manual provides you with an overview of the Buddy Walk planning process, we know there are questions and concerns that may not be covered in great length. For in-depth questions and support or additional information, please e-mail us at
.
Because the NDSS is the legal owner of the “Buddy Walk” name and logo, the CDSS has had to pay to have permission to add our name to it. Therefore we can only allow registered walks to use the logo and name.
Thank you to the hard working, dedicated groups who continue to support this event.

Important: To take part in a Buddy Walk you must read the Buddy Walk Policy and Procedures and fill out and return a signed Buddy Walk registration form to CDSS via post or fax. Please click to download the Buddy Walk forms and information below.
