CDSS Training and Workshop Update
![]() |
On August 24, 2009 CDSS had the privilege of providing training to a team of education professionals at the Sucker Creek First Nation Early Intervention Head Start Program. Sucker Creek is located 250 kilometers from Grande Prairie Alberta. The workshop, curriculum and training were developed by CDSS and facilitated by Kirk Crowther, Advocacy Leadership Manager. The full day workshop covered a number of themes and topics including information about Down syndrome, health concerns, individual milestones and early support and intervention. Each participant received a specifically designed workbook packed with up to date information and recommendations on strategies critical to the early development of a child with Down syndrome. |
Workshop evaluations indicated that 100% of the participants found the training to be accurate, comprehensive and related to their needs. Trainer Kirk Crowther noted that, “It was a great day of sharing with a focus on early intervention approaches and activities. The professionals attending the training were a huge part of making this workshop stimulating, and their invigorated spirit will benefit those children they assist and the entire community.”
