Employer of the Year Award
| Earlier this year, the Canadian Down Syndrome Society awarded Clive Jackson of Jackson's Hole and Grill in Nelson, BC as the winner of the Employer of the Year Award. Employer of the Year Award
The Canadian Down Syndrome Society has awarded Clive Jackson of Jackson's Hole and Grill, the "Employer of the Year Award."
Clive is the owner and manager of Jackson's and has employed Jonathon De Vito for the last 2 1/2 years as a prep cook and kitchen helper. Jonathon has Down syndrome. In order to be successful in the community and in an employment situation, Jonathon needs those around him to be accepting, supportive, and willing to create ways of achieving outcomes that are sometimes outside the box. Clive and his team at Jackson's have definitely been able to achieve this with Jonathon.
Jonathon has worked very hard over the years to become an employed person in his community. He was very dedicated to doing well while attending and graduating from Selkirk College's cooking program. This earned Jonathon an honorary certificate after completing his supported practicum placement at Jackson's. Jonathon is very proud of his contribution to Jackson's and feels he is very much a part of the team there.
Our congratulations to Clive with being the recipient of this national award, and our gratitude to him for providing Jonathon the opportunity to be involved and to be included.
