What is 21 Magazine?

It is an exclusive quarterly publication available only to members of the Canadian Down Syndrome Society. It features articles relevant to people with Down syndrome and their families. Topics include ongoing activities at the Canadian Down Syndrome Society, current events involving individuals with Down syndrome, and member submitted content.

Typically, the magazine is available four times per year and is available in printed format. In light of the recent economic downturn, our donations and cash flow as an organization have reached an all time low. Because of this we have found a new way to offer our 21 Magazine to members. It will be available for download online from this website.

Why is it called 21 Magazine?

The number 21 in our magazine title represents the triplication of the 21st chromosome that is present in the naturally occurring arrangement of Down syndrome. It represents the beginning of the next twenty years in our compelling history. For the Canadian Down Syndrome Society, it also represents a certain coming of age and the rights and obligations associated with this maturity.
