Donations in Honor of Celebrations
What better way to “Celebrate Being” than to honour a loved one or recognize a special occasion by making a difference for Canadians with Down syndrome.
- Celebrate the arrival of a new baby.
- Honour someone who is celebrating a special occasion such as a birthday, wedding or anniversary.
- Recognize someone special for all their hard work, or simply let them know they are appreciated. Tribute donations make great teacher appreciation gifts.
You will receive a tax receipt for your generous gift of $10 or more and CDSS will send a card with your personal message to the recipient of your choice.
Memorial Gifts
Remember a loved one by making a donation in his or her memory to the Canadian Down Syndrome Society. A memorial gift is a wonderful way to honour life, express sympathy and contribute to an important cause.
You will receive a tax receipt for your generous support of $10 or more, and CDSS will acknowledge your thoughtful gift by sending a card with your personal message to the bereaved family or recipient of your choice.
To coordinate a celebration or memorial gift, please contact Kim Antifaeff at 403-270-8500 or via our contact page. If you prefer to make your donation online, please click on the “donate now” button below.
When making a donation online, please choose “Yes, as a gift in memory of” or “Yes, as a gift in honour/on behalf of” under “Dedications and Gift Options” so that we can send a card of acknowledgement. Please be sure to include a complete address and personal message.
Celebrate Weddings
Celebrate your wedding by including the Canadian Down Syndrome Society in your special day.
In Lieu of Wedding Favours. Show your appreciation of guests and loved ones by making a donation to the Canadian Down Syndrome Society instead of purchasing wedding favours. The CDSS can create personalized place cards for each guest or a single card for the centre of each table or guestbook, to let your guests know you of the gift you have made in their honour.
In Lieu of Wedding Gifts. For couples that are looking to contribute in other ways, ask your guests to make a donation to the Canadian Down Syndrome Society instead of purchasing wedding gifts. The CDSS can create small cards to include in your wedding invitations acknowledging your generous request. Guests can conveniently make their donations online, by phone or by mail.
For more information or to coordinate your wedding donation please contact our Development Associate through our contact page.
In-Kind Contributions
The Canadian Down Syndrome Society thrives because of the generous donations we receive from individuals, families and local businesses. You can share in the power of our efforts through in-kind donations of goods and services which may help alleviate the costs associated with our programs, events and campaigns.

Christmas
'Tis the season for giving!
Looking for a stocking stuff that lasts longer than a Toblerone chocolate bar and has more meaning then a dollar store GI Joe? Always scrambling to find the perfect present? Want a great way to get into the holiday spirit AND advocate for people with Down syndrome?
Please donate to the CDSS this holiday season! There are two ways to do this:
- Give the Ability: With Give the Ability, we'll give you the tools you need to have a quick and easy fundraiser for the CDSS. It's perfect for an end of the year office party or office fundraiser initiative.
- Christmas Tribute: Give a gift to the CDSS in the name of a friend or family member (suggested donation: $10). Every Christmas Tribute recipient will get a thank you Christmas card designed by Jody Roll, a volunteer at the CDSS and self advocate.
